Kartu,

Thanks for all your help. Now it's working, with Browse Folders the fifth menu item, and submenus, the SD card, IM, and a Produo MM card I have. All my books are on the SD card, the Produo I use for new articles I want to throw on the Sony Reader to read fast without having to re-scan the entire database of 2300 books on the SD, is my hope.

But the only problem I seem to be having now is getting the .noscan to work right.

I used notepad to create .noscan.txt - but it does not seem to stop the scanning. I've played around with it, rebooting several times, and it keeps scanning the cards each time I turn the Reader on.

I've readi all messages in this thread, and I've tried to create a .noscan document
for myself from previous discussions about .noscan which you might edited
a little to explain how to do it correctly, and then have one clear document to point other people to:

How to disable card scanning:
Copy any file to the reader (e.g. in Windows Explorer, right click on an image,
choose Copy, then open the Reader, right click in an empty space and click Paste)
and rename it to ".noscan"
Regarding the ".noscan" file, one of the easy ways is opening notepad and saving
the file with type "any file" (or whatever it's called) and the given name.
Could you re-check, if ".noscan" file is present on SD card (in the root folder)?
If it is, delete it. If not, and you still cannot open books directly, that's a
bug. The only way to disable file scanning at the moment is having the mentioned
file in card's root directory.
If you have .noscan in SD root, nothing is loaded from the card. (this allows
one to put libraries with tens of thousands files on it)
At the moment you either disable scan, or can open files from the card, but not both.
If you've deleted the .noscan file, just remove/insert the SD card, you should
be able to open books with Books by Folder. It shows "copy the file" only when
it cannot find the book in the reader's book database.

Should .noscan not have a .txt extension? should it be .jpg? or what? Or is the extension
.noscan? Whateverfilename.noscan?

Sorry for all the very unsophisticated problems and questions. But I really appreciate the way you've written this code and the changes it makes to the Sony Reader. It looks like exactly what I've wanted for over two and half years! An easy way to import the folders I already have all my ebooks in pdf, text, epub, etc., sorted into, and keep the structure, so I can find them on the Sony Reader, instead of changing and mixing them all up!
