It's just saying the same old thing in a different way - producers want to get paid more, consumers want to pay less, hardly novel. The real issue is the perceived value of books, which appears to be in decline again. Publishing has gone through many squeezes in the past and adapted to generate profits in a different manner. The ones who'll suffer will be the authors, unless they relish the idea of being paid by the word.
