Um. This isn't quite true. The name of the standard is OpenDocument.

And ironically, OpenOffice dosn't follow it - or rather, OpenDocument was the standard some versions back, the current OO file format is a very early draft of the next version of OpenDocument...

Nathan - Eh. There are perfectly good PDF printers (I use Bullzip) which work fine with Office, I'd not really list that as a limit. Sure it's third party, but I use it for printing PDF's from a number of apps so...
