See, that's the problem with all of the arguments on all sides of this. Everyone assumes that
their perspective and
their context is also everyone else's. To the vast majority of B&N's audience, which is customers who have little to no idea about e-books, it's perfectly clear. To the small existing e-book buying market--specifically the US e-book buying market--it
can be confusing (but not necessarily), because the market is in flux.
Most likely, in six months most of the other players will have upgraded to the new SDK and all the confusion will magically vanish. In the long term, it's good for the market; in the short term, it's a pain--sort of like gall bladder surgery.
