If you would like to be prepared for the future, you should get an ePub device, or better, one displaying Adobe ePub and non-DRMīd MobiPocket. (And strip DRM from your existing collection)
I have heard great things about the Pocketbook devices, and would really like to get one myself. (multiple reading software for specific formats, best support I have seen so far, fastest costumer support, among other things.)

i heard many times lately that the mobipocket format is dying-- really? i thought it is popular..

(coming from a guy who rarely visit online bookstores other than mobipocket

)
the pocketbook is undoubtedly ranked high in soon-to-be-mine ereader list, but it's inability to lookup using mobi-dictionary (even with drm-stripped) is a deal breaker to me.. (i heard kindle2 can do that).
