We've got a layer of ice, topped by a layer of slush, with more ice on top.
My street has been closed to motor vehicles because it is an extremely steep hill and is now dangerous.

My daughter took me shopping then parked the car. We emptied the shopping out and the car slid downhill for a few feet. So she reparked. Then the same thing happened again. Then she tried to move it somewhere safer and another driver skidded into the middle of her car. Luckily, there's not much damage to either car but the police showed up and said that no-one else should try to drive round here and put barriers up.

Then I tried to carry the shopping down my very steep drive. My partner hadn't bothered to shovel the snow/slush/ice because "it would thaw soon" and "it's not meant to snow in December, so it won't last." Naturally, I fell and wrenched my knee a bit.
I strapped the knee up then shovelled the drive and gritted it. (The partner is in London today. I rang him and gave him my opinion of his inaction.)

My mother is supposed to be coming here for Christmas and I don't think that we can safely get her wheelchair down the hill, never mind the drive, unless there's a thaw.
