Hopefully the firmware will update sucessfully once it's fully charged. If not, try flashing it as Dr. Moze recommended. I'm not a tech person but I think bad things can happen when a device stops in the middle of a firmware update, but flashing it should get it going.
I also believe for the 505 there is a hard reset and a soft rest. Not sure if there is such a thing for the 300. Perhaps someone can explain it in detail if you haven't tried both methods. For me to get the reset thing working, I know it involved sliding the off and on button but that was for the 505.
