Hmm... now that I think of it, the pads that they use in the later Star Trek series greatly resemble our electronic readers. And since in Star Trek they're always modifying their equipment so that it can perform some extraordinary task in order to get them out of some dangerous situation or other, I'm sure that they would have no trouble modifying their "readers" to simulate a phaser that is set to stun.

Not sure if we would be able to pull it off with our own readers though. Maybe a stun setting would be a good feature to request for future models.

What am I saying... I find my 505 to be quite "stunning" as it is
