There are a lot of people here who want to rid themself of their Gen3s, so you could save some money here.
If you want to stick with MobiPocket, I have to agree it IS a great device. Though it is also true, that the format is at a dead end. Problem with the Cybooks is that (even IF the announced firmware once will be available) you have to choose between MobiPocket and ePub - there is no simultanious use.

If you would like to be prepared for the future, you should get an ePub device, or better, one displaying Adobe ePub and non-DRMīd MobiPocket. (And strip DRM from your existing collection)

I have heard great things about the Pocketbook devices, and would really like to get one myself. (multiple reading software for specific formats, best support I have seen so far, fastest costumer support, among other things.)
