This is among the most interesting bits of the story:

Amazon has every reason to protect the e-newspaper subscriber data so it stays as the conduit. Sony, on the other hand, might have a variety of interests in merging its e-book subscriber data and some of its other customer data to resell to third parties or launch co-projects. It odes create a different dynamic in the business relationship. |
