I download Book B (LRF) from the library to the device. The 505 does a format on Book B first time I open it.

Both A and B were opened in the Library software prior to downloading.

I delete B from the library software. Copy B from the 505 to Library software. delete B on the 505. Copy the B back to the 505. The 505 does a format on Book B. Open Book A on the 505 and the 505 does a format on Book A!

So it looks to me like whenever I transfer an LRF book from the Library to the 505, the 505 will want to reformat ALL books.

When I transfer Book C (EPub) from the library to the device, it appears as though no formatting is needed on the 505.

I don't manually transfer (is that what you're doing?) Rather, I have sync turned on, so that when I plug in my device (Sony 505), it then transfers and syncs all the books - in the way they are arranged and ordered in the Library - over to the currently empty 505.

If I'm understanding you correctly, is this also what you've been doing?
