I've managed to reset it after keeping it on charge for about 2 hours. The first thing I did was to downgrade to 1.6. Now the battery shows 58% I guess there was something with 1.7 that was causing incorrect readings about the battery state, who knows?
I need to use the device, so I won't be able to hunt bugs for Irex, and I'll wait for 1.8 if that ever comes up..
