Borrow an SUV.

Tell the fam that you have been contacted by a collector and he wants to see the collection.

Drive to the nearest landfill (alone).

Well, they are Reader's Digest Condensed books, make that the nearest Hazardous Waste Site.

Throw them out with extreme prejudice.

Drive back and tell the fam that the collector was able to take them, but that they weren't of any great value, so you just donated them to him.

Take a Valium and try to get through supper without screaming out your guilt.
