The email download system is pretty clunky, I agree. I suppose it might have something to do with verifying identity (sort of) by requiring the user to maintain a working email address in a particular domain, but it seems to me that would only be relevant if you used the email method of verifying identity.

Some of the titles I downloaded had ads for other content on pages at the beginning or end of the text. I haven't run into one in the middle of the text yet.

For comic books/manga, full page graphic ads don't take up much of the total file size, but I hope for text content, e.g. novels, they use a less filesize-hogging format.

The one text book I've downloaded (A.E. Van Vogt's Voyage of the Space Beagle) was fairly nicely formatted. I haven't loaded it onto my iLiad yet, but I think it will read well there.
