I just got word from a long lost relative in Grass Valley, CA (only recently re-discovered) that he talked with DaleDe today after I mentioned it to him that I knew Dale was from there also. They only live 6 miles apart and Dale lives near his daughter's house. His daughter would be my third cousin!

Anyone else have a neighbor of Sicilian heritage that came from Salemi or Vita, Province of Trapani, Sicily? It never hurts to ask...
wow, that's quite an amazing story. i wonder how many other 6 degree connections we could make here ? i think geneology is quite fascinating as well, and i'm also trying to learn about my family. my grandparents' generation scattered all around the world because of the war, so i have cousins all over europe and north america (most of them are in canada, including some i only learned about (and met) last year), and one of my grandmother's cousins moved to argentina. but she never had children so i don't think i have any cousins left there. that generation wasn't too prolific, but my great-grandfather had 3 children from 3 different wives. my grandmother was his last child, there was an 18-year age difference between her and her oldest brother. he had 2 sons who both live in canada now and they each had children as well (i've not met them though). my grandmother's older sister had only one daughter, she lives in canada as well and has two sons. her husband comes from a family of 18 children, if i remember correctly ! but since they are only related to me by marriage i won't try to keep track of all of them. counting all the children and grandchildren and wives and husbands they can easily have a family reunion with over 100 people !
