I just saw an article at PCWorld on how Sony had a terrific last quarter (or was it year?) and that was mainly due to cameras and notebook computers. There was no mention whatsoever of the PRS500, but the article did mention that PS2 was not a part of the increase in profitability. I was sorry not to read a sentence such as "Sony attributes much of its increased profitability to the huge sales of its new PRS500 e-book reader." No mention at all, which makes me think I'm correct in assuming it is a tiny tiny niche of their business, sort of like a hobby-horse of one important executive that the others are letting go ahead just to satisfy that one person.
But this is all conjecture. I wonder how that preorder of 10K compares to preorders of their other electronic devices (i.e. non-computers.)
