I understand, butAMAZON is NOT THE OWNER, they just happen to know who it might be. Hell the thing could have been sold or traded or discarded etc.
The other thing that is funny is that there is no information on the info page. Mine had the Kindle name, my assigned kindle email etc. when I received it. Why would that information not be there? Would it be because it was De-Registered and if so would Amazon STILL know who it belonged to.
Sorry if it sound like I'm being pissy about this but despite being a good thing they (Amazon) are doing I still think it's an example of their corporate controlling approach to the ebook/ereader market.
