I would contact the developers of CorePlayer and ask them which version you should have. I believe it would be 1.
Also, I had problems with certain videos and framerates, and others (all AVIs) ran perfectly fine. I believe it was how the videos were encoded that makes a difference. I'm going to investage that further. As far as MKV goes, I haven't been able to get one to work yet, but they say support for that is coming soon.
All of that aside, I'll figure out the video issues, and the device is still the highest quality 7" MID I have tried. The biggest downfall to me, and something I can't understand, is the sluggishness of internet explorer and the internet on this thing that is supposed to be the same inside as the Archos 5 Android.
If you want just an ebook reader period, and don't mind a slower page turning speed, the JE-100 is a wonderful device.
I've had a great experience reading on this thing though. It feels durable and the metal stand in the back has come in very useful for all kinds of reading (I even open it sometimes and slip it between my fingers when I carry it around in order to grasp it securely). If I could just get the internet to work better.
I'm looking forward to comparing the new SmartV7 to the W1060/A81. Now that I have a V7 here for review it will be an interesting week. One thing I do like about the Q7/V7 build (even though it is definately lower quality), are the buttons on the device. When applications allow custom key binding, those buttons can become VERY handy.
