I did have the light in the cover. I just leave it there in case I need it. I've been stuck in the car without a reading light too many times to take the light out the cover. I think that if I were to completely flatten the folded cover without including the reader or the light, the width would be equal to the 6.1 inches stated by M-Edge. By including the reader and the light, the depth is increased and the width is decreased.

If you do some how build a pocket at the top of your cover, it could work because the light rotates on a hinge. At first, it's pretty stiff and hard to turn, but after a few uses it rotates much easier.
