Actually, most people don't realize this, but that's a faux paus/no-no to link directly to images at another site. The idea is that it's akin to bandwidth stealing. Best to upload here. They may have censored us and cut the link.
At first that seems petty, and I'm guessing a smiley is negligable to them, but if you consider the cost of bandwidth and the enormous nbr of visits that can come your way these days, it makes a lot of sense for images in general, as nobody wants to become an inadvertant content host server for someone else.
