I did purchase a free epUb from B&N and it's not possible to tell the format before you buy it. So when you buy a book from B&N, it's a crapshoot. Plus, with the DRM used on the ePub from B&N, you cannot use them with any other readers out there. The link below is to the free eBook (with DRM) in ePub from B&N.
