Many of the libraries are adding more and more epub and pdf format ebooks. Readers that handle these well include the Sony products and the Astak Pocket Pro which I bought for my sister. She loves it, and I was especially impressed with the nice compact size and feel. If you decide on the Kindle, you will have to remove the drm to read library epub and pdf ebooks, and manipulate the metadata to read the library mobipocket format ebooks. These are not difficult tasks, but people have differing opinions on the ""rights" of doing said same. That being the case, I love my Kindle.
