I don't believe you need ADE to be installed on the same PC as the Sony software. While I do have ADE installed on a freshly built Windows 7 machine along with the new Sony software, I did not have the Python tools installed on it to liberate the ePub file. Those tools were installed on my "old" PC.

What I did was download one of my previously purchased books in ePub format from the Sony store on my Win7 machine and copied that ePub file to my "old" machine to liberate it there since Python was already installed there and already had my ADE key there.

That's been my experience anyway.

I think if Sony gets this right, I will be more inclined to buy books from their store for the simple reason that I can de-DRM them and have future portability. I was reluctant before simply because I couldn't do that with their LRX format.
