websites for reading books online?

I have lately been finding that the only place I can read at work is on a laptop. During lunch or whatever I can pull out the Sony, but I don't really have my own workspace so during the day when I have breaks, the only place I can sit is in the mini-lab near the main office (I work in a school). So I was hoping to find a website where I can do some reading on-line.

I found Page by Page books, and it's almost what I want. Books are split up by chapter and each chapter has numbered pages so you can resume where you left off. But there is no ability to log in as a registered user and have it remember your preferences, and that is the one thing which would make it the perfect solution for me. If I could log in, choose a book, read for awhile and then when I go back later, log in and have it resume where I left off, that would be perfect.

Can anyone think of a website that does what I want? Ideally, I would have two books going at once, one on the Sony and one on the website to read during breaks at work...
