That is all.

my kitten did the scale-the-leg trick sometimes when she was quite small (mainly for sport, i think, just because she could, and it was there, but definitely also for food), but her preferred trick is to leap onto my shoulder from any convenient slightly raised surface like a bed or table or chair (or my back, if i am crouched down, or leaning over). in fact she still does this, and she technically hasn't been a kitten anymore for almost 10 years now. this is usually pretty funny and harmless, but it can backfire. two times when it didn't go over nearly as well :
1. kitten jumped from the table to my shoulder about 1 meter away. problem : i was completely naked at the time, having just got out of the shower. i had scratches down the entire length of my back, since she tried to hold on as she slipped. ouch.
2. kitten jumped onto one of my friend's shoulder, from about 1 meter behind her. problem : that friend, as it happened, was a little bit scared of cats (i don't know why she was scared *before* this happened, but i guess she had a point *afterward*

). i tried to warn her so she wouldn't be surprised, but bizarrely that didn't help... no scratches involved that time, luckily, since it was in wintertime and she was wearing a good thick sweater. but for some reason she never wanted to come over to my house, after that.
