All joking aside, there are three issues with water immersion:
1) shorting due to the water - cure: dry it out. Any kind of dessicant is a good aid: silica gel, rice, kitty litter, anything like that which attracts water. Freezing may or may not help, depending on where the water is and what the device contains.
2) deposits due to salts, etc. in the water - If you dunked it into water with some kind of electrolyte (e.g., sea water, urine, etc.) you need to rinse it with demineralized water before drying it out; probably too late now
3) corrosion & swelling of thin internal connections & structures - the above need to be done quickly.
