donald, you'll never see OCR on these. their computer power is on par with an advanced digital watch, not your laptop. advanced features require an advanced computer, which means bigger, hotter, more power and less battery life. these systems are designed to take some text data and display it on the screen.
as for contrast, i think that's more about the eInk technology, which is still in its infancy. give it a few more years.
