Would trying a new battery be worth the effort?

Heh, I did think that was too good a deal
To turn the unit ON, just hold the "Menu" button in the top-left corner for 1-2 seconds. After that, you can check for the charge the same way you do for the 1150. Also, it may help to try out replacing the battery if it doesn't turn on. If it doesn't work, you might want to ask for a refund from the person you brought it from (unless the auction was as-is, of course).
