What I do for series (@Lily) is to add the series title and number of book to the beginning of the title. I do this with ease in Calibre and that way when I sort by title my series books are grouped together and in order.
For me I didn't care for how the Sony 505 felt in my hands. I have arthritis and am very sensitive to hand feel. I read my Kindle while it's in a case (that might have worked with the Sony but there wasn't a case with the display to try it out).
I bought a K1 the first hour it was available and happily used it until the K2 and the DX came out. Now, I mostly use the K2 and reserve the DX for non-fiction and PDFs. You can read PDFs on the K2 now but most of mine need a larger screen.
Page numbers aren't an issue for me since I've read on a multitude of handheld devices. Try reading a fiction PDF on a Palm, what a pain. You first have to scroll down to finish the page and then page forward to get to the new page. I'm accustomed to eReader and MobiPocket software so the presentation felt very familiar on the Kindle.
Have fun choosing your device!
