I understand if they work on future products - they have to earn money.
I understand if they release new versions of their current products - again, money...
I understand if they do all sorts of things which they can honestly claim is necessary for the well-being of their company.
But I do not understand that they work on features which will not make it into the coming FW anyway. If that was my company even the programmers would be on test-duty until that FW is finally fit to release and all future plans and features would be on hold until it's become clear whether we manage to get that FW out or not.

Just the kind of situation where you expect thing to "just work", and it don't.
And as it happen, it migh indead be in the next update so...
