You do realize its very possible to swap IMEI numbers right? It's illegal, but very possible. Swapping an IMEI would allow you to make the network think the Kindle is still being used when its actually something else.
Assuming you get 4 months out of the service (even if it gets shut off) that's 60 bucks a month savings for 4 months at about a total of 240 dollars. I can see someone attempting this, and if it works, in the end you get a free ereader without wireless support.
