Yeah, I knew there were some other .mobi sources out there. I just haven't had any need to use them with my casual/mainstream reading interests

It has meaning among a niche with in a niche--the more tech oriented among the eReader device early adopter crowd.

That niche will have no impact on what word is used to label these devices when they go main stream. Hell, I'm on this site and didn't know eReader meant any particular format and thought it was just a generic term for this category of products.

And a couple friends/colleagues have used the term eReader when talking about wanting one, but not finding one that really fit their needs/budgets (fellow academics who needs A4 PDF support and markup for a reasonable price). So the term seems to be spreading as the generic term to refer to all ebook devices.

And again, the tiny niche of very knowledgeable early adopters won't have any sway on what term catches on. Hell, most of the early adopters probably just have a Kindle or Sony reader and don't even know the name of book formats etc. as they just buy it and use the attached store and that's it.
