That "pop-up" is just a notification that you
have a message. As Nat say, you can read your messages at any time from the "User Control Panel". If you look at the links in the very top right corner of any page of this site (where it says "FrontPage", "Gallery", etc) you'll probably find there's a new link appeared saying "1 unread message" or something similar. You can also click that to read the message.
