Don't feel too left out regarding the Sony update. The Sony ePub update "Terms and Conditions" explicitly states that the unit must arrive in a fully functional condition. No other repairs will be made during the update. I'm just crossing my fingers that they are a little flexible with this policy. It is en route as we speak.

Unlocking the update button isnat all that great, all i did is edit the XML, if you press it it does nothing becasue it cant see the reader( hence why its locked in the first place) although the sony library software sees the reader (although comes up error) and its in device manager.
did you ever get as far as being able too flash it?
i swear i saw some stuff using libprs500 and python, that could write directly too the reader. any ideas?
