Thanks for writing to the publishing companies. I know chances are slim, but still I appreciate the effort!

As for your idea - I think it would be helpful, but the biggest benefit (for me atleast) of a parallel is to visually see both versions at the same time. I think that's why the columnar format works well with a parallel. Having a link would switch the view, but I wouldn't be able to compare the versions side-by-side. Just my opinion though.
