The DRM support is supposed to be coming ("in December", so soon). ECTACO jetBook-Lite product page says:

I initially took this to mean eReader, but now I'm not so sure and the similar Aluratek Libre just got Adobe DE support.

In the mean time, your best bet for contemporary DRM-free ebooks is FictionWise. Their MultiFormat ebooks are DRM-free, and they have a Young Adult category that includes the two series you mentioned (but, as you say, only with DRM). See also Wiki: Dealers and Publishers without DRM, which includes in particular Baen and Smashwords.
