I have Verizon FiOS for home telephone, Internet, and TV, and service has been great. Perhaps it is location. Here in New York the regulators have been all over Verizon the past few years about taking care of customers.
As for banking, I only use the local little bank. In fact, mine called me 2 weeks ago and suggested I look at refinancing my mortgage (which was with them) because I could save 3.5%. We signed the papers today.
