The .acsm file is just a stub that allows you to download the PDF encrypted for your AdobeID (the Academy does not have your AdobeID). If you downloaded the PDF within ADE and can open the PDF within ADE, then it is registered to your AdobeID.

I see that others have had this problem with some PDFs, so it is probably a bug in ineptpdf. The ineptepub script seems to be more robust, probably because the ePub file format is simpler.
