The cause of our boiler breaking down the first time was a bad installation. No idea why it took several years for it to have an effect...
I am very pleased the builders took a belt-and-braces approach to these houses - at least I have hot water still, and warmth can be provided by layers and/or cuddling etc... (actually, I'd sooner cuddle the yeti than etc, but when it's cold I'll cuddle whatever's to hand...)
