I use a Pro Duo card when I want to read PDF journal articles quickly. Instead of getting out my USB cable and hooking up my reader, I just pop the card out of my 600 and into my laptop (it has a built-in reader), transfer the file over, and pop it back in to my Sony. I plug in my reader to do more extensive file management. Also, some of the files I read can be up to 5 MB (graphics embedded), so the 500 MB of built-in memory does not go as far as it does with pure text files.
