Kindle gone south with 2.3 firmware!

My Kindle 2 has been very eratic since the 2.3 firmware install (I did it manually). While the install seemed to go fine, I've now had two instances of files being corrupted in the memory card. When things suddenly went flakey I made a backup of everything in the documents folder, did a factory reset, and tried to copy things back to the kindle. While doing this I found several folders that were corrupt in the backup I made after things went bad. Since I didn't need these documents I restored those that were OK and started reading again.

After a couple hours the full battery indicator was down to HALF and the book I was reading suddenly went corrupt and disappeared from the home listing. So much for the battery charge extension!

I backed up the documents folder again and factory reset. The files I lost from the Kindle "home" list the second time were called bad by my MAC. My data is protected in a good backup but how do I deal with this on going corruption? I've had the Kinde 2 a year and never had any problems at all under 2.0.3. I had no hacks on the device. Very Vanilla

I'm in the process of doing it all over again. I've seen no postings of folks with problems after the update. Am I alone?

Suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks
