I'd be very surprised if they didn't have ways of identifying themselves to each other, though - it's very much (seen as) an "old boys network" in the UK, and it's a bit pointless if you don't know the other old boys

Their biggest problem in the US is that they're dying out. Fewer and fewer young whippersnappers are willing to join....
