The reader froze at the splash screen with irex logo. I have been unable to bring it back to life. I thought of discharging it, by leaving it there, waiting for a complete shutdown and expect a restart after that. But the logo is still there by now.
It seems to be more serious than I expected. Is there any way that I can restart it?
Thanks!

First, you should charge the device for three hours, just to be sure. Then
unplug it, this is important, and boot it, or reset it, whatever you can do. The next step you should do is to install firmware 1.6 to have a nice experience with it, firmwares 1.7.x are very buggy with battery calibration, or battery driver, and use them is a pain in the neck.
This is what I have done and I'm now happy again with my DR1000S, I can leave the device for a whole and when I'm going to use it boots OK and battery level is nearly as full as last time. Firmware 1.7 nearly cost me a battery replacement at iRex support
