Book Browser Prototype

Interesting study by a dude from the Hitachi Human Interaction Laboratory. He worked on a user interface that does not change people's natural, traditional behavior, like turning over the pages, and yet allows for accessing a rich variety of electronic content. According to the abstract of his paper:

Quote:
We propose an interface for easily accessing a rich variety of content using the metaphor of reading poetry. The interface is designed for searching content by turning the pages of a book-like device. Using the device, the user can easily access desired content without pressing buttons many times, using complex graphical user interfaces, or using a scroll bar to scroll excessively. The prototype we developed can control TV, radio, media files stored in a HDD, and Internet browsing. The interface can be applied as a controller for commercial products such as PCs, TVs, and HDD recorders.
The photo attached shows how this system could look like. Physorg has more information.
