That's totally untrue. No reputable newspaper would accept payment for editorial content. If an advertisement resembled an article in its layout or appearance, it would be flagged as "advertising feature" or something similar.

I also suggest that Amazon would be highly unlikely to pay for an advertisement that mentioned the Sony reader, even if it was only a couple of lines.

It's much more likely that the person writing the article had a personal preference for the Kindle, or some first-hand experienc of it.
