Well with Disney you'll never have to worry about finding a replacement (other than paying for it again), but there are plenty of movies/albums/old TV series that you just can't get any more.

Myself, I started buying music CDs fairly early (~ 1986) and had to rebuild my collection a couple of times due to loss/theft/inconsiderate former friends since then; I also have a couple of concert videos which would be impossible to get today. With that I finally decided I'd invested enough in the entertainment industry.
