I work for the US Army, (Department of the Army Civilian) and each year on Christmas and Thanksgiving, the Army Dining Facility (chow hall) puts on a spread for the single soldiers, and families of deployed soldiers.
My wife and I like to go down to the chow hall and join our men and women in uniform for Thanksgiving dinner; and perhaps, just a little, help to ease their loneliness.
Trouble is, no leftovers! Oh well, I guess we can cook up a small turkey.
