At Target on Saturday, I did a side-by-side comparison of my PRS-500, the PRS-300 and the PRS-600.
The 300 was heads and shoulders
sharper by miles and
higher contrast than my 500. It really made my 500 show its age.
So if you think the screen on the 300 is "washed out," I would bet dollars to donuts you saw a lemon of a 300. You should go to a different store and check it out again... with 500 in hand! The 300 is the
sharpest Reader I've ever seen!

I wish they had offered a refurb 505 instead, I got my wife one for less than $10 when Circuit City closed down and I must say her's is much easier to read than my 500.

Score!

But on the other hand I find the button layout on the 500 better than all the other version of the reader that came out, I wish they would just upgrade the screen.

Now this one, I am with you all the way!! WTF were they thinking changing the button layout? It was great on the 500, and the 300/600 have
much less comfortable button positioning. This is the single biggest strike against the 300 IMHO.
