Also as to the Nook hardware I really like the way you can search through the color covers of the books. Right now I have 366 books on my Kindle and it's a royal pain to find them in series order.

Remember that BN will be charging tax on your ebook. So, if the book is even $1 cheaper than Amazon, here that would be 80 cents on a $10 book. Not much savings there.
Also, using calibre allows you to sort your books by author and series. I have one series of 39 which all are on the Kindle in the proper order.
