Personally I think much of the criticism is a bad rap. For example, I thought this little political light-weight trounced Joe Biden in the Vice Presidential debates.

I feel the real reason she is reviled by the media and the left in general is simply that she represent a successful woman that does not follow their agenda. Any popular minority or woman that has conservatives views MUST be demonized. It is one thing for a white male to hold conservative views, but quite another when it is a woman or a minority. Liberals can't afford to let women and minorities see conservative ideology as being a legitimate viewpoint that has answers for this segment of society. This is why they demonized Clarence Thomas and Miguel Estrada. They had to be marginalized in order to preserve the liberal base.
